How Far Are You Willing To Go For Adventure?
My travel heroes are opening my eyes to my own humility
“The more I know, the more I realize I know nothing.”
The more I read about adventure, the more I realize I know nothing about it.
It is slightly different but tickles with commonality. Socrates, the wise philosopher he was, helped us understand the humility in our human potential. He believed the more a person learned about the world, the more he became aware and appreciative of what exists further into that world, bringing the hammer of humility crashing down. It is a fascinating little paradox: the more you know, the less you know about yourself and the world. It should be the opposite, but it isn’t, and it makes perfect sense. The more in-depth you learn about the intricate web of ideas and complexities within any field of knowledge, the more you begin to dive into them, unlocking further layers and levels of understanding. Ignorance is bliss, another famous quote, explains the opposite quite well.
