I hate technology addictions; it is no secret to anyone who has read my writing. I choose to reject the default acceptance of dependencies to technological devices.

I’ve written about traveling with physical maps, breaking the dependence on GPS.

I’ve explored a short digital detox.

I have quit most of social media over the last few years.

For me, technological advances often present a barrier, a constant distraction away from life, real life in the flesh.

My reliance on the internet to remember things has undoubtedly made me less resilient and more unable and unwilling to memorize important facts and information.

The constant access to my smartphone has taken me away from the moment, made me less active in conversations with people, less involved, or present in my interactions with different mediums. I can rarely watch an entire film without the distractions of my phone.
